The 2025 Honours excursion marked the second annual field-based learning experience for Anthropology and Sociology Honours students, reinforcing the programmes’ commitment to immersive, socially responsive scholarship.

During the excursion, students were workshopped on alternative research methodologies, including walking ethnography, Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS), and ecological knowledge.

These approaches encouraged students to critically reflect on the relationship between place, movement, and knowledge production, while also challenging conventional academic frameworks and methods.

The excursion advanced interdisciplinary dialogue, collaborative learning, and ethical research practice, making it a transformative experience that aligned with the programmes’ commitment to socially responsive and contextually grounded scholarship.
