From boys to Men: The Politics of manhood among Xhosa communities

You are all invited to take part in this debate which will be hosted by the Faculty of Arts- Sociology, Anthropology Incl. History Department Seminar. 

The current debates around Inxeba- The Wound -Movie, have challenged many debates around ulwaluko- Xhosa male initiation practice.  This Seminar seeks to respond to some of the ‘emotional’ debates on the topic, we hope to promote a space where different views can be heard while promoting deep questions about ‘tradition’ neo-traditions and beyond.  The seminar will bring intergenerational conversation to allow deeper understanding of what ‘Inxeba’ means and should mean for many of us struggling with questions of citizenship in African continent.
